Bad Move, Mr. Kenneth Cole!

Dear Blog,

Kenneth Cole, known for his designer clothes made a public mistake through his twitter account.  He failed to inject humor on the recent Egyptian protest (a not -so-funny topic.)  Besides the “lol” or “haha” he may have expected, he received a number of negative comments.  This led him to delete the original tweet and respond with an apology on Facebook.

The above is the tweets posted by the CEO, Kenneth Cole about the current protest in Egypt.

This may be a the last time Cole decides to comment on a devastating event.  Either way, many people will learn from this very bad public mistake.

So, I leave the question to you, as a consumer would this mistake by Kenneth Cole affect your future purchase of his brand?

Social Media Permeate the Employment Life Cycle

Dear Blog,

When it comes to make decision about hiring the applicant, the employer can use information obtained from the social network to make the decision. The list is exhausted when it comes to the precautions of using social network during employment. It is also emphasized that once the employee leaves the agency, the individual still has to be careful about what is shared or discussed on social network with the previous employer or the agency.

The use of social network such Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and so forth has gained tremendous popularity within the previous few years. The use of these networks has gained popularity throughout the world. Millions and millions of people are involved with these networks and it has gained attention for the wrong reasons. People have become involved with using these networks during work hours and etc.

One would not think the information that an employer obtains from these social networks can be used against him/her unfortunately but as it is stated in the article that employers may lawfully use the information. However, once you are hired being on these networks can bring harm to you as well. You may share information without any intentions to cause any harm to the agency and the way that information can be used may cause harm.

Trying to make sure to be “in” network during your business hours may lead to a decrease in your work. These are just some of the issues that arise as a result of social networks being involved with employment. In addition, once you leave the agency, you still have to continue to be cautious about what you post in regards to work and your previous co-workers may be able to view it.   We should start on taking the precautions with the involvement with these social networks.

Negative Effects of Facebook

Dear Blog,

The chances of someone not having or ever hearing about Facebook are very slim. In reality, if you know someone who is not aware of this social network, they are more likely to get a respond as if they are out of the loop.

The initial introduction of Facebook came about from a student at Harvard University for the purpose of being involved with other student or be updated on their social lives. The popularity of Facebook has even been adopted by mobile companies where they have launched cellular with an app for Facebook which makes accessing the site even easier.

The downfall that it has brought along is the obsession that many people have become a victim of which makes them want to be in touch with Facebook and they updating their status throughout the day. However, it is all fun and games to keep in touch with your peers but you may not know the person on the other side is actually your friend, thereof, taking precautions when sharing your information is vital.

When did it become a necessity for people to share where they are or what they are doing with half of the world out there? Social networks are usually produced on the idea of connecting people from all over but when people start to abuse that and use it for the wrong purposes is when the original thought is lost.

People use Facebook for all purposes from sharing information about their work down to what they are down late on that day. Sharing such information can sound like fun but when it comes in the hand of those are not what they seem to be then you are putting yourself at risk to be a victim of something that could have been prevented.

Facebook has become what is called the love-hate relationship.

Facebook takes over the gaming world too!

Dear Blog,

Can you believe that Facebook has more video games players compared to the 3 major game system combined? Well, that’s what Facebook’s COO Sheryl Sandbger claimed during her surprising appearance at the Pay Pal’s innovate Developer Conference.  Users prefer social gaming over Xbox, PS3 and Wii.

Another statistical bomb that Sheryl dropped on the people was that 10,000 new websites integrate with facebook everyday around the world.  That is 3.65 million new websites per year and don’t forget that tens of thousands of websites are already utilizing Facebook connect and Facebook Open Graph.

The question now is that “Is there anything that can outpace Facebook?”

Truly, the world is full of surprises.

Till next time,

Don’t Drink and Facebook!

Dear Blog:

Social networks have become a major path as far as communication. People socialize with each other using many different social networks such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Friendster.

The purpose of social networks is to introduce faster way of communication. It helps many people to share their point of views with others. It gives people opportunity to add comments to others. However, it also serve as disadvantage to many people. During intoxication many people would share stuff with others that they might regret.

The comments shared while intoxicated end up destroying reputation for many people. The new plug-in is a safer way to use social networks. It allows people to set the timing for intoxication and would require a test to login within those timings. It helps people to control their actions during the time of intoxication.

It is one of the best way to make sure that you don’t regret your decisions afterwards. 🙂

Until next time,
